What better way to learn how to dive than in the crystal clear, warm waters of Koh Tao?

No previous dive experience is required and upon completion of the course students will be certified to dive to a depth of 18m (60ft) with a dive buddy of equal or higher certification. The certification is valid for the rest of your life, meaning that you can dive with any dive shop, anywhere in the world!

The 3-day OW course guides students through a 3-phase process including Dive theory, shallow water skill work and Open Water experience dives.

Cost – 8,600 THB (includes):

  • OW course e-manual
  • Rental Dive equipment
  • Dive computer rental
  • SSI certification fee
  • Dive Logbook
  • Roctopus taxi pick-up from the pier on arrival


  • A minimum of 10 years old
  • Ability to swim 200m un-aided & tread water for 10 minutes
  • Good physical health (Those with known medical conditions may need written approval from a dive medic)


Day 1

4pm – Orientation, meeting your instructor, other students and watching the course videos. (approximately 2 hours).

Day 2
8-10.30 Academics
1.30 – 4pm Confined water training at a shallow dive site or pool.

Day 3
8-10.00 Academics
11.30 – 4pm Dives 1&2

Day 4
6am-11.00 Dives 3 & 4
Midday – Certification! (Then meet again at 7pm to watch the video we made of your group as we celebrate your new certification.)

Later that evening we meet up at our beach bar, Victor’s, for a special screening of your open water movie and to celebrate your first night as a fully certified open water diver…Roctopus style.

If you would like your dives filmed by our in house professional videographer, we offer this service for an additional fee. Check out Fat Fish movies on You Tube.

Please note that you must leave 18 hours between your last dive and flying on a commercial aircraft.
