Roctopus Sub Culture Video offers this Discover Underwater Video adventure to give divers a chance to safely shoot underwater video under the direct supervision of a Dive Professional and experienced underwater camera operator. This workshop will ensure the student maximizes the capabilities of any available equipment and develops safe diving practices to reduce risk of injury, environmental damage, and equipment failure while trying their hand at underwater video. Instruction is 1-on-1 and the day’s footage can be quickly assembled in a compilation and will be provided to the student.

Open Water Diver or higher experience

Roctopus Sub Culture Video offers this advanced underwater video training designed to teach certified open water divers the skills, techniques, theory, and philosophy to produce stunning videos of the underwater realm. This comprehensive workshop-style course will ensure the student maximizes the capabilities of any available equipment and develops safe diving practices to reduce risk of injury, environmental damage, and equipment failure. Students will produce their very own underwater videos. An excellent stand alone course and ideal as a foundation for work in underwater video production.
The course begins with 1or 2 afternoons of land-based theory, practice, and equipment techniques. The following 4 days begin with review and critique of previous day’s exercises, followed by 2 dives in the afternoon developing skills and techniques. The final 2 days explore editing techniques used to assemble the student’s course footage into a compilation or demo reel. Graduates can continue their training with the video internship.
All required dive and camera equipment, boat fees, SSI Motion Picture Diver certification, and tuition.
Advanced diver or higher experience (10+ dives). (Note that more experienced divers who have greater buoyancy control should find filming techniques easier to master.)
Duration: 7-8 days
Roctopus Sub Culture Video offers graduates of Advanced Underwater Video Production an internship opportunity to further develop their skills in film making. During the internship, students may set their own dive schedule to practice filming and will receive critique on each day’s footage. Access to a video workstation is provided for editing footage, and successful candidates will have opportunities to produce souvenir videos for divers. The most promising students may be offered freelance work with Roctopus Sub Culture Video during or following the internship.
