Stress and Rescue Diver

Stress is a major contributor to rescue situations and diving accidents. Learn accident prevention, as well as how to correctly deal with problem situations if they occur. Make diving safer and more fun by identifying and preventing potential problems. This course is about avoiding, recognizing and solving problems on the surface and under water.

Prerequisites

Proof of participation in a first aid /CPR course within the previous two years. We offer the SSI Medic first aid course which takes one day (3,500 baht). During this course, you’ll be taught appropriate and useful first aid and CPR techniques. You will practice recognizing health problems and dealing with all kinds of emergency situations you may come across in real life.

What you will learn

This course involves:

  • 1 day of classroom sessions
  • 1 confined water session
  • 1 day of open water scenarios

You will learn the signs of stress, and how to deal with stress in yourself and other divers before the dive, during the dive and after the dive. Also, you will learn about different personality types and the common actions of each type in stressful situations. You will learn skills and techniques to help you and other divers prevent and overcome common stressors associated with diving. You will also learn self aid and buddy aid skills for potentially stressful and/or rescue situations.

Qualification – what this means

As a SSI Stress and Rescue Diver, you will be able to deal with many in-water rescue situations, from panicking divers to unconscious divers.

Price: 10,000 or 9,000 (no accommodation)

Includes all learning materials, dive equipment, taxi pick-up, 2 to 3 nights’ accommodation, and refreshments on the boat.
